Promoting Aceh on Tsunami Disaster Risk Management to Pacific Countries

Tsunami is one of the most frightening natural disaster in the world. For example, Aceh and North Sumatra was one of the area that experienced Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami in 2004. According to Liputan 6 News, The Tsunami had killed 79.940 fatalities.[1] As fellow archipelago countries, Indonesia desired to share experience and knowledge about Disaster Risk Management to Pacific countries. the sharing was put in the form of training, namely Training Tsunami Disaster Risk Management that was initiated by Training Disaster Management Research Center (TDMRC) and Ministry of State Secretariat of Indonesia,


The training of Tsunami Disaster Risk Management was held on 10 – 20 August 2016, Banda Aceh. Participants came from 4 countries, namely 5 people from Timor-Leste, 3 people from Fiji, 1 person from Vanuatu and 2 addition people from Indonesia. The training was not only in the class, but also provided in field trip, so that participants could see and interact with local resident of Aceh post-tsunami. The training was aimed to Sharing experience and knowledge on Disaster Risk Management particularly Tsunami to Pacific Countries.

The Scoping Mission on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was held in Dili, Timor Leste on 1-4 May 2016, aimed to follow through South-South and Triangular Cooperation action plan between Indonesia, Timor-Leste and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in the field of ICT training for 30 Timor-Leste participants which being implemented on Center of Training and Development of Information and Communication Technology (BPPTIK), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology  of Indonesia at Cikarang, West Java.

The delegation of Indonesia was led by Mrs. Rika Kiswardani as Head of Bureau for Foreign Technical Cooperation of  Ministry of State Secretariat, Mr. Nusirwan as Director of Center of training and Development of Information and Communication Technology for Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in Cikarang, Mr. Mukhammad Fahrurozi as Head of South-South Technical Cooperation and Triangular Division for Ministry of State Secretariat, Mrs. Erly Wijayani as Head of Section Directorate for International Treaty on Economic and Socio Cultural Affairs for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rizqi Adri Muhammad as Head of Section Directorate of Technical Cooperation for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Ni Kadek Yuni Ernawati as Official of the Directorate of East Asia and Pasific Affairs for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hamdani Pratama as Offical of BPPTIK Cikarang for Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Indriyatno Banyumurti as IT Expert of Chelonind and Mr. Lee Young In as Assistant Country Director of KOICA Indonesia Office.

Sebanyak 30 orang aparatur pemerintah dari Timor Leste akan mengikuti program pelatihan di bidang Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) di Balai Pelatihan dan Pengembangan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (BPPTIK), Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (KOMINFO), Cikarang. Pelatihan ini merupakan bagian dari kerja sama antara Pemerintah Republik Indonesia (Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika, LAN, dan Kementerian Sekretariat Negara) dan Pemerintah Republik Korea melalui Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) dalam program “IT Capacity Building Training on Government Officials”. Para peserta dari Timor-Leste ini akan dilatih selama 5 hari penuh dan dibagi ke dalam 3 kelas pelatihan yaitu: Chief Information Officer (CIO) pada tanggal 7-11 November 2016, serta Manager-Project Management dan Operator-IT Essentials pada tanggal 31 Oktober – 4 November 2016. Pelatihan tersebut akan dibuka secara resmi oleh Kepala Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan SDM Kementerian Kominfo, Basuki Yusuf Iskandar.
