Unity in diversity is a sentence that fit well to Indonesia. Located in the Southeast Asia, Indonesia consists of about 17,500 islands spread from west to east and north to south. Populated by 230 million people from various tribes, religions and languages, Indonesia is a unique country to visit. Dance, music, folklore, and many traditions varied from one region to other regions. For instance, the cultures in Java are mostly calm in style (even in its craft, dance, and music). But in Papua you will find a vibrant music and energetic dancing.

The official language in Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia, but now many Indonesian in Jakarta and other big city able to speak English in daily life. The prominent International airport in Indonesia is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), nearby Jakarta. Other provinces also has their international airport such as Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali, Adi Sutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, and many more.

 

Economy

Republic of Indonesia gained its independence in 17 August 1945 by its own struggling. After many years, Indonesia has already in the middle income level countries. Indonesia currency is Rupiah. In 2009, Rupiah value to Dollar is about Rp 9,500 per US$ 1. The GDP per-capita is about US$ 2,246 in 2008. Currently Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a member of G-20 major economies. Indonesia Stock Exchange is the sole stock exchange in Indonesia with the code IDX. Service sector is the largest account in Indonesia economics with 45,3% of GDP in 2005. Industry accounts 40,7% and Agriculture 14,0%. The stable economics is proven when the global recession hit in 2009, Indonesia has been less affected compared to other southeast asia countries.

 

Tourism Destination

Bali, is the main attraction for the foreign visitors. But there are a lots of tourism spot in Indonesia. With its beautiful sea, beach, mountain, coral, and culture Indonesia offers a lot for foreign visitors who come for business and leisure.

In the western side of Indonesia, the visitor will see the beauty of Bukit Barisan, Ngarai Sihanouk, Nias Island, Toba Lake, and different culture in every province. In Palembang, Musi river and Ampera Bridge is the main attraction. Belitong islands is also provide the visitors one of the most beautiful beach. Waykambas national park is famous with elephant football.

In Java Island, Jakarta offers a blend of modern life and Indonesia traditional culture. While West Java provide the beauty Sundaneese culture and beautiful scenery of west Java,  in central Java the foreign visitors will see one of seven wonders, Borobudur Temple. The Buddhist temple was built in 7th century by the Syailendra dynasty. Surakarta and Yogyakarta will provide you center of Javanese heritage by the two kingdoms. In East Java, lies Mount Bromo, beautiful mountain with beautiful culture of Tengger tribes.

In Kalimantan, known as Borneo, there are many tourism sites as Sentarum Lake and Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan, Derawan, Maratua, and Sangalaki Islands in East Kalimantan, In Singkawang, West Kalimantan the visitors can find chinese culture living in Indonesia. While in South Kalimantan, the visitor will see the floating market in Banjarmasin.

In lesser Sunda, such as Lombok provide the beauty of Gili Trawangan, Senggigi and many traditional Sasak villages. Komodo Island is the most famous island in Indonesia after Bali. Komodo dragon live in its original habitats.

While in Sulawesi, the visitors will find unique culture in Tana Toraja. One of the most beautiful diving spot on earth also here, in Bunaken Sea Park. In Papua, you can find many beautiful beach stretches along the island and of the most unique phenomena, Mount Jayawijaya. The only snow spot in Indonesia.
